In rural areas, chicken manure is the primary organic fertilizer used in farmers' greenhouses. To enable farmers to fully utilize their own fertilizer resources without causing harm to vegetables, and to ensure that the organic fertilizer can both nourish the soil and maintain its fertility for a longer period of time in the greenhouse, here are two formulas for fully composting and fermenting chicken manure.
Recipe for making organic fertilizer through chicken manure fermentation
1. Use chicken manure and straw. For every 1 cubic meter of chicken manure, add 300 jin (a traditional Chinese unit of weight, approximately 150 kilograms) of straw. When fermenting, make sure to mix them well in a pattern of alternating layers of chicken manure and straw before proceeding with the fermentation process.
Second, use a mixture of chicken manure and cow manure. For every 1 cubic meter of chicken manure, add 2 cubic meters of cow manure. When fermenting, make sure to mix them in a pattern of alternating layers of chicken manure and cow manure. After mixing, add an appropriate amount of water to allow it to fully decompose and ferment. The fermentation process takes 30-40 days, and by then, it should be basically complete. During the fermentation process, be sure to turn the pile over on the 20th day to ensure sufficient decomposition and fermentation.
Note: Dried chicken manure is raw chicken manure, and after being spread on the land, it also serves as a soil conditioner. If chicken manure that has not been fully decomposed and fermented is spread on the land, it cannot be absorbed. Therefore, we must use fully decomposed and fermented chicken manure as organic fertilizer.
